Tips on How to Get Your Child Into Running!

All opinions are my own.
SharkRunningAt three years old, I’ve noticed my son’s normal energetic levels have increased to “OMG, WHERE IS HE GETTING ALL THIS ENERGY!!” Seriously! He’s giving up naps and still can run around like a little mad man. I’m starting to realize more and more the need for him to get outside and burn that energy and wear himself out. It will make bedtime that much easier! This is why I’ve decided to get him into running. Even at his young age, running can quickly become a fun activity that goes beyond just racing around the playground.

Right now my focus is just for my son to find a fun activity where he can not only be active, but feel like he’s made an accomplishment. At older ages, kids will have running tests in school. While my son still has a few years to go, it’s not too early to start preparation!

Teaching Toddlers Thankfulness with Sam’s Club Healthy Living Made Simple + Thankful Tree Craft

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

ToddlersThankfulWith Halloween behind us, it is time to start focusing on the next holiday… Thanksgiving! Though I have to admit, after my son celebrates a holiday which is basically to him a candy collection, it can be hard to get him to focus on being gracious and thankful for what he has in life (that isn’t candy!). I started racking my brain to come up with ideas to teach him about thankfulness. One day I was browsing through my latest issue of Sam’s Club Healthy Living Made Simple Magazine via my iPad app. One particular article immediately caught my eye… But I’ll get to that in a minute!

Sam’s Club Healthy Living Made Simple app  features their bi-monthly magazine that is packed with amazing resources and tips on how to lead and continue a healthier lifestyle. Every subject matter is addressed from fitness, to diet, to family wellness and more. Plus you’ll receive all the latest information on health-related events at your local club.

ToddlersAppNot a Sam’s Club member? No worries! You don’t need to be a member to download the app for FREE on iTunes. The app requires iOS 7.0 or later, and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Since I prefer to read my digital magazines on my iPad, I opted to download the Sam’s Club Healthy Living app on there.

Galaxy Playdough For Your Lil Guardian! ~ Inspired by @Marvel’s #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy @Guardians

Galaxy Playdough For Your Lil Guardian! ~ Inspired by @Marvel's #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy @GuardiansWith the little man now 3-years old, his curiosity and interest in everything is increasing by the minute! I’m constantly looking for new activities, crafts, ideas, etc to keep his mind stimulated. I recently called up one of my teacher friends to get ideas of what type of activities she has in her classroom. She told me I could stop by her classroom after school was out one day to look at what she had to offer. As I walked into the room, I noticed a bunch of large clumps of playdough in one section of the room. She told me how the kids are learning about space and had made “moon rocks” out of the dough. Definitely looked like an activity my son would enjoy!

As I took home the instructions she gave me for homemade playdough, and gathered ingredients, I was thinking about how much fun my son would have creating these moon rocks. Moon makes me think of space… space makes me think of galaxy… and since I’m such a Marvel nerd, galaxy makes me think of the upcoming film GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY! Now my son is a huge fan of the Avengers Assemble cartoon. If you’ve been watching lately, you know that the Guardians have started to make a crossover appearance. Needless to say, he is now a Guardians fan!

So here I present to you what my friend refers to as Galactic Dough… but we are going to call it Galaxy Playdough in honor of the upcoming GUARDIANS film!

Win Mega Bloks® First Builders Build ‘n Splash! ~ #FirstBuilders #Giveaway

MegaBloksGiveawayIt’s no secret that we are huge fans of Mega Bloks in this household, as we feature them often here on MommaRambles.com! These blocks are perfect in size and shape for my toddler to create any building with that his little heart desires (and usually it is sky scrapers!). Now let’s just say that bath time has become such a blast thanks to Mega Bloks® First Builders™ Build ‘n Splash!

Splash1Build ‘n Splash is part of the Mega Bloks First Builders line, which is geared towards children ages 1 to 5. Lately my son has been “fighting” me on taking baths. He used to love bath time, but lately he hasn’t been a fan. His eyes absolutely lit up with delight when I pulled out the Mega Bloks. He excitedly told me he couldn’t wait to build something. I told him he could only use this set in the tub. He quickly ran off towards the bathroom pulling off his shirt declaring he wanted to a bath “right now!”. He absolutely had a blast building the tower in the tub and pouring water on it to make the animals spin!

Simplly use the red octopus which features a suction cup to stick to the bottom of the tub. From there, your child can stack all the “fishy friends” on top of it to create a fun waterfall! My son just loved pouring the water on the squid’s head and watching it fall to where the starfish spins, the shark dips and the fish catches the water! What is great about this First Builders set too is that it is compatible with other Mega Blok sets outside of the bath tub. The draining bucket can suction to the side of the tub and definitely comes in handy for storage!
