Guest Post: Magical Family Fun at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament ~ #Review

This guest was written by Jennifer Davis, for Maryland Momma’s Rambles and Reviews. She and her family received a complimentary experience at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament at Arundel Mills, located in Hanover, MD. This is 100% her own honest opinion.

Experience Magical Family Fun at Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament!

I recently had the opportunity to experience our local Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts, I found the experience more fitting for my friend (and blog contributor!) Jennifer and her family. Please continue reading to learn more about her family fun night out at Medieval Times:

Stepping into Medieval Times is a magical place! As you first enter the “castle”, you are greeted by a Knight who kindly gives you a crown to wear. Yes, Mom and Dad receive crowns to join in the fun too.  It is then that you are whisked away into a magical land!

Our seating was Royalty! This means we were in the first row and additionally were served scrumptious “blood dragon soup” (which was a tomato bisque soup) and castle bread. My daughter just loved the mythical names!

Pop-Up Shops: Are Temporary Storefronts the Latest #Trend in #Retail? #popupshops

A few days ago when driving through town, I saw a banner in a store front for “HERE. a pop-up shop.” Now I remember thinking, what’s a pop-up shop?? However in my typical forgetfulness fashion, I started thinking of something completely different 10 seconds later.

That was until today when I stumbled across a press release that answered my pop-up shop question! A pop-up shop is a temporary shop that is only open for a limited amount of time in another vacant storefront. Annapolis has never had anything like this before and “HERE. a pop-up shop” is the first boutique of its kind in the area… and I have to say, I warmly welcome the idea!

Little did I know this was already a trend among boutiques in New York and Los Angeles. Frankly, it was nice to see what is normally empty commercial space.

From the press release:

Co-owners Amy Fresty and Ellen Lunay, both local residents with a flair for fashion, were looking for a way to combine their backgrounds in fashion merchandising and fashion photography to bring something unique to the Annapolis area. “This is an amazing opportunity to bring fresh, fun and unique merchandise to the area without a full commitment to a retail store or lease,” said Lunay.

“Pop-up boutiques have been trending in other cities for quite some time,” said Fresty. “We knew this would be just the right timing for fashion-forward shoppers in this area.”

Their first “pop-up” run from March 1st to March 10th, with a location at 47 Spa Road in Annapolis. Their first theme is “Flirting with Spring.” Looking through their website, I was excited to see that they will offer not only apparel, but accessories, jewelry, home decor, and other gifts. Browsing the designers, I was even more excited to see many local names and brands! As a Maryland native, it is always great to see local businesses support other local businesses.

This is a new concept to Annapolis, and I truly hope it becomes a trend around town, the State, and beyond! Why leave empty storefronts around town, when temporary shops could bring life and a more visual pleasing look to empty commercial buildings?

Have you ever heard of pop-up shops?
Have you seen them in your town?

Wordless Wednesday: Ride Into Heaven ~ #WW #WordlessWednesday

A few days back my friend and I were headed down the highway. He commented how the sky looked like heaven at that moment. So I, as the passenger, decided to snap the sky with my phone. To some it might just look like a bad iPhone pic of a highway… but I kind of like it.

First #Annapolis Snowfall of 2013! ~ #SnowDay

Annapolis had its first snowfall of 2013 today! I think the City of Annapolis forgot to send out the flows though as not even the main roads were clear. Snapped this photo after I dropped my son off at school. The snow was pretty on the back roads.

Fight Varicose Veins with Vein Clinics of America

From VCA Facebook Page

As someone in their late 20s, it won’t be long before I hit the big 3-0! Just last week at lunch with a friend, she started teasing me on entering the new decade. She said it won’t be long before the laugh lines, crow’s feet, and spider veins appear. I just laughed it off. Well that is until later in the week I was cleaning out my desk and happened upon a little photo album from high school. Wow I wish I had my 17 year old legs again! Maybe my friend was right. My body is not in the shape or form as it was 10 years ago, and I accept that. Though it doesn’t mean I can’t make an effort to prevent or fix anything I deem unsightly.

As we age, our bodies will change, and varicose veins (spiders veins) maybe quickly appear. However it isn’t just the appearance that can cause concern. Varicose veins can often cause issues such as fatigue and swelling. Plus they can become down right painful! As the condition worsens, you may feel burning and itching, or start to feel ill if you stand on your feet for long periods of time.

Luckily, there is the Vein Clinic of America, who not only specialize exclusively in vein condition treatments, but they are the largest group of vein specialists in the nation. With access to such a highly trained network of physicians, what would hold one back from pursing treatment?
