School is right around the corner! In fact, the local kids go back next week. If you haven’t already bought your school supplies, then now is the time. Does your child have the perfect “Back to School” outfit and fashion? So much to think about and so much to get ready for! It can be a busy and chaotic time. It is always nice to have a helping hand during this “Back to School” time. Now my son still has another year before heading to preschool, but I’m still using these Back to School sales to load up on “school” items he can use here at home. I’m sure when he really heads to school, as a working mom, I’m going to need some help getting him ready. Luckily, there are groups like the Boys and Girls Club of America, that offer great programs to assist families in need during this time.
Growing up in Annapolis, the Boys and Girls Club of America had a heavy presence in our town. I always saw fliers for them and or advertisements in our local paper. However, it wasn’t until I started living in Rhode Island part time did I fully grasp the benefits of this group. My home is located right next to the local chapter of the Club. I firsthand witnessed the staff arriving so early in the morning to prepare for the students, and staying so late for Club sponsored events like dances and parties. I would see children happily walk up those stairs after school, and leave with the biggest smiles on their faces when it was time to go home. Many of the children who participate in the Boys and Girls Club of America are underprivileged and need assistance with school, food, clothing, and even love. The Club does such amazing work, that is why I am so excited to share with my readers about how you can help this amazing group.
One way that the Boys and Girls Club of America is helping parents like you and I is by offering different educational content and tip sheets! These are easy to download and utilize with your children. Head on over to the Club’s website and look on the left hand side. There you will find the “Get Ready” tab! Just click the one you want to access and print.
The Boys and Girls Club of America and Disney have partnered to launch the Tools for Back to School initiative! This feature includes a pop-quiz style game, where supplies are donated to the Club for every correct answer you score. How awesome is that?
Additionally, The Boys and Girls Club of America has recently partnered with JC Penney. Through jcp cares, during the month of August, you can round up your JCP purchase at the register to benefit the Club! Don’t have time to make it to the store? You can also help while you browse online to buy the perfect Back to School outfit. You can take advantage of this “Round Up” program while online shopping. Let’s say you make a purchase that comes to $15.20. Simply round up to $16.00 and you just donated $0.80 to the Club. So easy!
In honor of this program, Mom Central is hosting a Boys and Girls Twitter Party! Be sure to sign into Twitter and join in the fun on Thursday, August 23rd from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Boys and Girls Club. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
