Right now my son is in the stage where he loves all things “transportation.” This means cars, trucks, boats, helicopters, and of course… planes. So you can probably imagine his excitement when we first saw the media images for Disney’s PLANES!
Right now PLANES is all I kind of hear about (well that and the Monsters from Monsters University. He’s so excited). While trying to figure out what snack to make him the other day, I remember seeing an “airplane fruit dessert” somewhere on Pinterest. People were uploading their own versions. Very cute, but I didn’t want to particularly give my energetic old year old a dessert for snack. So I decided to go ahead and create my own, but with a healthier spin!
Looking through my fruit, I found some strawberries and one and a half of banana. I used the whole banana as the body of the airplane, while I cut the half longways to create two “wings”. Other recipes I saw called to place chocolate chips on top, but I opted for raisins. Instead of whip cream to create clouds, I used nonfat Greek yogurt!
Needless to say, my son absolutely loved this and ate it right up! He was certainly excited about his food looking like a plane. At first it seemed like he just wanted to play with it instead of eating. However it wasn’t long before he gobbled down the wings and then started on the rest of his plane. I decided to show him the teaser for PLANES while he was snacking. He quickly became glued to the screen during the viewing, and then let our a happy cheer with “more planes please!” I’m not sure he can wait till August!
If your little one is a fan of airplanes, be sure to make them this snack before watch the teaser for PLANES together! They’ll certainly be even more excited for Disney’s latest adventure.
