When I was younger, the quote from Albert Einstein, “Creativity is contagious, pass it on” always stuck out in my brain. When I first laid eyes on the BlankZ product, all I could think was how it would encourage my son’s imagination and creativity. Immediately I thought of that and just knew this would be a product I’d have to “pass it on” to my readers.
The BlankZ are definitely one of the most creative plush toys I’ve seen on the market this year. In fact, they were awarded the 2012 Creative Play of the Year title by Creative Child Magazine. The concept is simple. The BlankZ provide the 3 dimensional canvas, while YOU CREATE the design!
The BlankZ generously sent me the White Hound, which is a dog, from their Series 1 collection. As this is one of his favorite animals, he was more than excited when I showed him the box. He immediately recognized those floppy ears and started repeating “dog, dog, dog” excitedly. He’s 15 months so it is not like his vocabulary is spectacular. He did recognize the dog right away and wanted me to open the box right away! The Series 1 collection also includes Bare, Bloink, Bare Hare, No Bully, Un-Sealed, White Hound, Ele-Faint. I’ll let you guess which animals those are!
One “You Fill in the Blankz” set includes a plush toy, five markers, and a blankdrop card to display your creation on. The marker colors include black, blue, green, red, and yellow. The ink of the markers wash off, so don’t worry if it gets all over your child’s hands or clothes. Thanks to the washable markers, if your child wants to create a new design on their BlankZ, all you have to do is toss it in the washer! Their plush will come out completely blank and ready for them to create a new design. Just make sure you toss it in with your load of bright color laundry and not your whites!
My son had a blast coloring on the dog! He is just learning to color and draw so his skills aren’t exactly at an expert level. The colors are nice and bold and it is very easy to color on the canvas. Sure he got some ink on the paper and place mat below, but I was surprised how great he did in keeping the ink off his clothes!
I soon realize he was just too excited about “coloring” that he didn’t even place the right tip of the marker on the canvas! Oh well! The point is, he was picking different colors to use and it helped open the doors to his potential artistic side. He had an absolute BLAST with The BlankZ!
I present to you his final masterpiece! The BlankZ is the perfect gift for any child to help cultivate their creativity. If you have a little budding artist in the family, definitely buy them a BlankZ today!
Buy It: You can purchase The BlankZ right off their website for $14.99. There is also a list of local retailers. For my Maryland locals, Kids Create Fun in Ocean City carry The BlankZ.
Check out my quick informational and demo video on The BlankZ! I apologize that I pronouce it as “Blank Z” as I’ve heard others pronounce it as “blanks”.
